Serves: 2
Prep: 2 minutes
Cook: 12 minutes
Ingredients
One sirloin steak or 2 smaller fillet steaks
Pasta of your choice, I used fresh tagliatelle
Pesto of your choice, I used this red pesto with sun-dried tomatoes.
Salt and pepper
A tsp of butter
Rocket to serve
You could alternatively make your own pesto! Find out how to make it here.
Instructions
Season the steak liberally with salt and pepper. Leave it to come up to room temperature. It is best if you take the steak out of the fridge a few hours before starting to cook, but not completely necessary to make great steak- so don’t worry if you don’t have the time!
Put a pan of water on to boil and add salt to the water. As this is coming to a boil, add the butter to another pan, once this has melted, cook the steak for four minutes before flipping it over and cooking for another four minutes.
Once the water is boiling, add in your pasta of choice and set the timer to go off when it has cooked for the recommended amount of time.
After the steak has been cooked for the final four minutes, set it on the side and cover it with a plate or some tin foil. Leave it to rest while the pasta finishes cooking.
Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and add in the pesto, swirling it around the pan so the pasta is evenly coated. Slice the steak and serve it with the pasta and rocket.
