Stand-Out Fashion Moments From The Met Gala 2021

Tackling issues of social injustice, identity, and gender fluidity and showcasing American independence - can that really be done through an outfit? This year’s Met Gala was in all of our fashion-obsessed diaries, snacking and hibernating, waiting for the outfits to appear on our socials.

There were definitely some statements made on the carpet, and streams of outfits that sparked inspiration and conversations. Here’s a glimpse of some iconic outfits that have played on our minds.

AOC with Aurora James, in Brother Vellies

Cara Delevingne in Dior

Kim Kardashian West in Balenciaga

Kim’s all-black gown that had everyone talking, except Kim, where this gave her anonymity yet recognisable by her features and physique outlined in the outfit, and gave people their own views and outlooks on the outfit.

Shining Stars of the American Independence Theme

This year’s theme of American Independence was a chance for a lot of attendees to play with ideas and be more self-reflective on the theme.

Some people went for more of a classic style representing the colours of the American flag - red, white and blue. And others expressed their style way beyond this, let’s take a look at some of the stars that shone at the Met Gala.

Addison Rae in vintage Tom Ford for Gucci

Ladies and Gentlemen, her. Addison looks incredible in this rich red corset gown with sleek blonde hair, a very classic and elegant look and one that she definitely showed up in.

Michaela Coel in Balenciaga

Such a beautiful embodiment and a stunning colour, this outfit  fits Michaela like a glove.

Billie Eilish in Oscar De La Renta

Similar to the iconic Marilyn Monroe, this outfit speaks so much Hollywood glamour and is such a different look for Billie but she pulls it off incredibly.

Troye Sivan in Altu and Rick Owens

Troye definitely understood the assignment of a classic LBD, and looks phenomenal.

Megan Fox in Peter Dundas

Megan Thee Stallion in Coach

Both Megan’s looked phenomenal and brought a touch of Hollywood glamour to the carpet.

Sparkle and Sequins Met Gala Inspiration

There was also a lot of sparkle, sequins and gems on this year’s carpet, these are just some of our  favourites that brought the shine to the event.

Kehlani in Aliette

She shone as always in this beautiful silver two piece suit, and the complimenting hairstyle with it, she is everything.

Kendall Jenner in Matthew Williams’ Givenchy

Such a vision and another iconic Kardashian moment.

Emma Chamberlain in Louis Vuitton

The Met is also bringing in a younger millennial audience and we are here for it. Emma looks absolutely stunning in this dress. Emma’s consistent collaborations and work with Louis Vuitton has led her to this incredible and iconic moment.

As we round off our low down of the Met for another year, it’s clear that the millennial generation absolutely shone and showed up this year. We already can’t wait to see what the next installment of “In America: An Anthology Of Fashion” will bring on 2nd May 2022.
