Rice

Asparagus Risotto

'"Produced on a traditional Cascina farm near Bianzè, in the heart of Italian risotto land from a hand-me-down family recipe.”

Taste: ★★★★★

This is the best risotto I’ve ever tasted; I wasn’t expecting the seasoning to be so flavoursome, especially compared to the every-day product I’ve tried before from supermarkets. You can truly taste the asparagus and being the 2nd ingredient in the list, I can vouch for this product as a go-to.

It’s super quick to make, around 15 minutes, and when cooking this dish, I decided to add some extra veggies for nutrition but without this, the meal would still be super nutritious based on ingredients.

Ingredients: Carnaroli rice, Aspargus, Salt, Rice Flour, Corn Starch, Onion, Celery, Carrot, Parsley, Leek, Miso, Yeast Extract, Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Spices.

Price: £4.50 for 250g  - this served 2 of us so we found this quite cost effective given the ingredients and organic status.

Pasta

Conchiglie and Basil Sauce

Conchiglie -

“From dough to drying, our pastificio is based in Bari, Puglia, at the heel of Italy, famous for a panorama of blue skies and sun-scorched wheat fields.”

Ingredients: Durum Wheat Semolina, Water

Basil Sauce –

“The traditional subtle pomodoro e basilico crafted basil from Liguria.”

Ingredients: Tomato Pulp, Onion, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Basil, Sea Salt, Cane Sugar

Taste: ★★★

For someone who hardly experiments with pasta, it was great to try the little shells of Conchiglie, which works perfect as little cups for saucy sauces!

The pasta took a little longer to cook than anticipated but was worth the wait.

The basil sauce on the other hand, had the perfect amount of basil to be able to cleary taste the herb. I would 100% buy this sauce again as it tasted healthy, hearty, and was lovely but could be thicker.

I’d recommend this as a great weekly meal.

Nibbles

Sesame Breadsticks – “Traditional Italian breadsticks, made with posh organic extra virgin olive oil for that extra crunch, and covered in deliciously toasted sesame seeds.”

Ingredients: Wheat Flour, Sesame Seeds, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Sea Salt, Yeast, Malted Wheat Flour

Taste: ★★★

These had a great crunch, and I was happy to see they were covered in sesame seeds unlike the ones you find in mainstream supermarkets.

Price: £2.85

Kalamata Olives –  “Kalamata olives are known as the King of Olives, for their soft and fleshy bite, grown and prepared in the Greek sun.”

Taste: ★★★★★

I really enjoyed these, they weren’t too salty and had the perfect soft texture, they’d be perfect in a salad or nibbles for a party.

If you’re not a fan of brown olives, they also sell Green Pitted olives.

Price: £3.45

Roasted Pepper Spread“Produced in Puglia direct on the farm. Organic roasted pepper spread produced using first choice ingredients.

Taste: ★★★★★

I need to restock this in my shelf ASAP. Let’s stop right here, it tasted like real red peppers. It’s often hard to find spreads and sauces which genuinely taste healthy, ARE infact healthy, and taste like real ingredients.

This spread ticked all the boxes, I’d recommend you give it a go!

Price: £3.25 ]

This selection of nibbles would make the perfect Christmas stocking gifts for the foodies in your life, and something that could be enjoyed by the whole family this winter period.

One thing is for sure across the RealFoods range, is each item is flavoursome to the point where you can taste individual flavours, and with the added benefit of being organic, what’s not to love.
