Theatre Review: Cluedo at MK Theatre
The storyline for those of you who don’t know it already, goes a little something like this.. one murder, six suspects. Already thinking, ‘I can solve this’? This game was everyone’s favourite, designed in 1943 to bring loved ones together for a night of whodunnit.
I went to the show having absolutely no idea what to expect apart from it being a thriller… I was half right. The characters were all invited to the infamous and beautifully set up Boddy mansion, welcomed by mysterious butler, Wadsworth(played by Jean-Luke Worrell). Each character gets given an ultimatum with a box that each has a different type of weapon and the rest.. you’ll have to watch it to find out.
A comedy thriller I didn’t know I needed to see. The characters are so important in these kind of shows and every single one of them were brilliant. We had the pleasure in having Miss Scarlett, played by the Eastenders star Michelle Collins who fitted the role with sass and empowerment. User of her agency, (Wesley Griffiths)Colonel Mustard played the clueless cop perfectly with excellent humour. Miss Peacock (Judith Amsenga) had the playful character I imagined, fitting perfectly with the oh-so-known Reverend Green who’s witty humour and relatable awkwardness was portrayed well by Tom Babbage.
The set design was brilliant with Wadsworth mysteriously opening every scene: dining room, library, billiard room, study and so on. I could go on about this show but I want you to experience it for yourself, if you love witty humour, sillyness and murder mystery this one if for you.
