Style is a reflection of our state of being and this month, we’re a lot more chilled. Now that the initial excitement of post-lockdown life is beginning to wane, we’re starting to feel like ourselves again and classic casual is back, with significant nods to “French Girl” chic.
This month, we’re seeing a lot of laid back boxy shirts in pastels and broderie anglaise, channelling the cool Parisian vibe in any outfit.
Now’s also the time to invest in a great pair of jeans to see you running between your Spring social events and through the summer. We’re still seeing an influx of straight leg and mom jeans on the High Street, a more modern and effortless alternative to the trusty skinny.
Au contraire, make-up has stepped up its game. Deep red lips are back and the bold statement is reinventing itself. The once go-to look to dress up a look is now worn with jeans and a tee to add that “je ne sais quoi” to the classic every day uniform.

This shirt is serving everything. The boxy shape and oversized sleeves balance the quaint femininity of the ruching, embroidered florals and scalloped collar.
Wear buttoned to the collar and loose if you have a smaller bust or show off that cleavage and french-tuck into your jeans for a stand-out look that doesn’t scream “try-hard”.

Cool denim brand, Nudie, is a firm favourite when it comes to jeans. Although higher priced than other high street favourites, Nudie Jeans are made from sustainable 100% organic cotton denim and the brand offers FREE repairs to all its jeans, giving you exceptional value for money.
We’re a particular fan of this straight leg pair, the washed out blue denim and simple structure gives an androgynous vintage feel which balances out the fab shirt. We also love the blue on denim pairing, a fresh take on the modern monotone dress code, elevating every look.

Fisherman’s shoes are an interesting and unexpected style spot this month and are set to be a staple trend in the coming season. The caged leather sandals are both practical and chic with any spring/summer look. We love this classic tan pair by White Stuff.
PETAL BOUCHE MATTE, VIOLETTE FR $25
This deep velvet lipstick by Violette FR has taken social media by storm thanks to its perfect shade of red inspired by the color and texture of rose petals. Swipe on to add some fun sophistication to your effortless look et voíla!
Violette, a Parisienne make up artist based in New York, epitomises French girl chic and has shared her secrets with the masses in her new make- up collection available on her website. Nous l’adorons.
